Another Eyewear brand made of wood

Some of you will have seen my post about Kult by now, but with the summer hitting some parts of the globe (even in the UK) I thought it is the time yet again to highlight another sunglasses brand which also makes frames in handcarved wood. Their slogan, “Experiment With Nature,” exemplifies exactly what the Portland, Oregon label is about – handcrafting eyewear with locally sourced wood. Not only that, but Shwood are finishing the frames with Carl Zeiss lenses, some of the best glass on the market.

‘Beaded Edition’ sunglasses by Mosley Tribes

Mosley Tribes presents a beautiful special release of their Lyndel frame. The Beaded Edition comes with great hand-crafted details. Patterned after Native American hand woven blankets, both temples on the black Lyndel are individually hand laid using brightly colored ceramic beads.

Yes, I have to admit I have a thing for any ethnical inspired items…

The sunglasses will be released in very limited quantities in July 2010 at Oliver Peoples boutiques in Soho and Sunset Plaza, as well as select retailers.

Teawood sunglasses by Kulte and WaitingForTheSun

The French brand Kulte has teamed up with Waiting For The Sun to create a limited series of handcrafted sunglasses made of tea tree wood. It comes with one-of-a kind packaging and a scarf to protect your glasses.

It is just a nice project linking aesthetic and environment friendly design.
